Jesse Robkin is a Brooklyn-based writer, filmmaker, and transsexual (not always in that order). She writes about trans people’s search for love and self-actualization within an increasingly culture and the scar tissue we accumulate in the process.

Before moving to Brooklyn, Jesse spent 7 years working in the Chicago theater scene. To date, Jesse has written four full-length plays and a handful of short ones. She’s best known for her plays Austin’s Home and The Chain, as well as her short play Child Protection commissioned for Jackalope Theatre Company’s Living Newspaper Festival. In 2023, she wrote, directed, and co-produced her debut short film Stress Fracture, which premiered at the 42nd Reeling Film Festival in Chicago.

Jesse is also the writer for the largest Magic: The Gathering YouTube channel, Tolarian Community College, for which she’s written the scripts for more than 100 videos. She’s also a former contributor for the premier MTG strategy article site ChannelFireball. Though she is indeed a white trans girl who plays MTG, Jesse swears she’s not a stereotype all the way down; she has no idea how to code.
